Following the success of the winter collection, ‘King of the High Street’ George Davies has designed a new GEM collection exclusively for Beales Department Store. Which is set to hit Bournemouth and Poole on Saturday 18 February.
Inspired by bright florals and featuring spring foliage prints, the GEM spring / summer collection is the perfect remedy to heavy winter clothes. With a variation of products that can be mixed and matched depending on the occasion, the range can be worn to work or Saturday lunch with the girls as well as celebrations such as christenings and weddings.
Quality of fabric and design is something that George Davies is famous for, as a result of taking styles from the catwalks and making them wearable. This collection will not disappoint, with stunning prints and luxury embellishments, each piece stands out from the crowd.
Bright hues and prints are a key trend for 2012 and the GEM collection features both. Amina Erlandsson buyer at Beales said:
“Prints and patterns are big news this spring/summer with many top designers showcasing them including Miu Miu, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton. Feeling confident in an outfit is answer to looking fabulous this season and GEM includes a number of stunning jersey dresses and maxi dresses in gorgeous prints that will flatter any figure by skimming curves.”
George Davies comments: “Following the outstanding success of the first GEM collection, I was really happy to design a second exclusively for Beales. I have really focused on colour for this collection and hope that it will brighten up women’s wardrobes everywhere.”
Tony Brown, CEO of Beales, added: ‘George Davies is a pleasure to work with and we are thrilled that he has returned to design a spring / summer collection of GEM for Beales. His inaugural range was extremely popular and we believe that this one will prove to be a hit when it was introduced to stores in February’

The LLPR girls masqueraded as models for an evening and prrr’d down the catwalk for the Fab Frocks Fashion Show.
The show featured a stunning array of evening, cocktail, mother of the bride and groom outfits and dressy daywear, all modelled by business women from local companies, Debbie J Boyes, Virgin Vie at Home and of course the LLPR ladies. The event was a sell out with over 220 people attending.
Particular thanks go to Steele Raymond Solicitors who sponsored the show, and to the Mayor of Poole, Councillor Mrs Joyce Lavender who took part in a colour analysis by House of Colour. Guests also enjoyed a dancing demonstration from the ‘Still Alive and Still Jiving’ dance group which included 2 Poole Soroptimists.
The most poignant point of the evening were 2 real-life cameos of trafficked women, the issue at the heart of Soroptimist International Poole’s Purple Teardrop Campaign. Fab Frocks’ beautiful Purple Rain collection highlighted the campaign and Soroptimists’ determination to stop human trafficking and support its victims.
We then treated the audience to a very glamorous mama mia style grand finale and the evening closed with a superb raffle with many prizes donated by local companies including BMI Harbour Hospital, Caesar’s Bistro and MopHair Salon whose Nick Norman dressed the models’ hair for the show.
All proceeds from the show are for Project SIerra, the Purple Teardrop Campaign and President Penny’s charities, the Jigsaw Appeal (Blood Cancer and Disorder Appeal, Royal Bournemouth Hospital) and Harbour Challenge (encouraging confidence in local children and teenagers through watersports activities).
