Paultons Park is the only theme park to be awarded the VisitEngland Gold Accolade

Family theme park Paultons Park, which is home to the world’s first and UK exclusive Peppa Pig World has been awarded a Gold Accolade from VisitEngland. Situated in the beautiful New Forest National Park, Paultons was one of the first attractions to receive this prestigious award and just 10 attractions in the country were selected in total – with Paultons being the only theme park.

The Gold Accolade was awarded to Paultons as a result of the most recent VAQAS (Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme) audit, which was carried out in August.  This was the first time that accolades have been awarded for their score from the Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme, and the park achieved a glowing report based on eight categories including pre-arrival, arrival, the attraction itself, cleanliness, retail, catering and staffing. The awards are validated by a panel that is chaired by Pam Foden, the Head of Industry Development at Visit England.

Paultons Park was one of just four attractions in the south to win the award, and it was credited for its high level of cleanliness, beautiful, well-manicured gardens, immaculately kept animal enclosures, varied catering and retail offerings and polite and helpful staff.

Commercial director of Paultons Park, Stephen Lorton, said: “We are delighted that Paultons Park is one of the first attractions in the country to have received this prestigious Gold Accolade from VisitEngland.  So many aspects of the park were singled out for praise which the whole team work very hard to achieve for the benefit of our guests”

As well as being home to Peppa Pig World, Paultons Park offers an exciting range of features and attractions including the all-new ‘Wildwoods Restaurant’, the interactive Big Toy Shop, a magical Victorian carousel and family favourites such as EDGE, Cobra – Paultons’ biggest rollercoaster, Magma, the Raging River Ride and a 4D cinema.

Paultons Park will be open during October half-term. For further information, and to book tickets online in advance, visit www.paultonspark.co.uk.

Trio of Meerkat pups welcomed at Paultons Park

How meer-kute! This month-old trio of meerkats popped outside for the first time on Monday at Paultons Park, boosting the park’s meerkat population to 14.

The tiny pups stand to attention at just 10 centimetres high. Born on August 9, they have just started eating a delicious solid diet of chicken mince, mealworms and locusts.

Paultons is on the hunt for names for these cuties – for your chance to name them, share your meerkat monikers with Paultons Park on Facebook or @paultonspark on Twitter. The winner of the competition will receive a one day family pass to the park and an opportunity to feed the meerkats.

‘Atlantis’ and ‘Mistresses’ actress Sarah Parish recruits families at Paultons Park for PICU charity walk

‘Atlantis’ actress Sarah Parish will visit Paultons family theme park on August 26 from 10 – 12pm to recruit families for a sponsored charity walk in aid of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Southampton General Hospital.

The visit follows a previous recruitment drive for the walk at the New Forest-based family theme park, which is home to the world’s first and UK exclusive Peppa Pig World.

As patron of the ‘Friends of PICU’ charity, Sarah’s visit to Paultons Park will see her handing out leaflets and meeting guests to promote the 5km walk which will take place at Southampton Common on Sunday September 7.

It is hoped the walk will raise up to £50,000 in sponsorship funds for a new, larger paediatric intensive care unit within a brand new children’s hospital planned for completion by 2020.

Sarah said: “There are some world class services at Southampton and outstanding clinicians, but they and their patients have been making do with a corner of a 1970s general hospital. The children’s hospital aims to ensure that the environment and the buildings match the services within. Help us save more children’s lives every year. Please come and walk for your hospital, for your children, for your town.”
