Windfest is sadly over for another year, many thanks to all of you who attended and i am sure you will agree, it was another amazing success!
After a gorgeous sunny start on the Friday morning, freak flash flooding had festival goers running for cover while lighting forked across Poole harbour. But the tropical storm couldn’t dampen the party spirit as party people filled the marquee for the prince of parties, the Windfest Tropical Butterfly ball.
Talking at the extreme sports beach festival – which saw more than 10,000 visitors flock Sandbanks between 12th – 14th September – she explained why free events which offer enthusiasts a chance to have a go at no cost, get her full backing;
“Animal Windfest offers an ideal opportunity for people to get involved, it’s fun, enjoyable and non-elitist, you don’t have to be a pro windsurfer to get involved. It’s suprising that so many people live by these areas of amazing natural water and don’t fully realise how easily accessible it all is.”
Still free to the public, Animal Windfest allows visitors to get an unrivalled taste of the sports showcased, it also provides a key date for those in the industry to meet up and share some ‘quality’ time.
As well as hosting professional and amateur kite surfing, windsurfing and beach volleyball events it also offers visitors a generous hit of extreme entertainment outside of the competitive arena. Showcase events such as the Animal Relentless Bike Tour (that’s stunt biking action for the uninitiated), a skate and BMX King ramp and SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding) as well as the all-time favourite, the Pool Gap Slider wake boarding arena continue to big draw to visitors looking for an adrenalin fuelled day out.
We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
