The Big Freeze
Or the day the sea froze…

Frozen Poole Harbour
Sub-zero temperatures in Sandbanks transformed Poole Harbour into a spectacular glacial ice rink. As the thermometre dropped to a frosty -10 degrees celsius, the South was gripped by conditions colder than parts of Iceland and Greenland. It has been some eighteen years since the last time the sea froze in the usually mild South Coast.
Half a mile of the shoreline was frosted over, causing passers-by to stop in wonder and take photos of this rare occurance. Lucky for us, the location of the Liz Lean PR offices afforded rink-side seats to this anomaly.
Icy fingers crossed that it’s another 18 years before it happens again!
