Harmony at The Haven spa teams up with Aveda

The Harmony at The Haven spa, based within The Haven Hotel, has teamed up with the major global brand Aveda to offer a range of spa treatments using Aveda’s luxurious line of naturally derived and eco-conscious skin care products.

Located at the very tip of the exclusive Sandbanks peninsula, Harmony at The Haven is Aveda’s first luxury beach resort spa in the UK.

Aveda believes in restoring balance to the five elements holistically by engaging all five senses – sight, smell, sound, taste and touch – through pure aromas, plant and flower-based products and unique sensory experiences.  Clients to Harmony at The Haven can now choose from a collection of spa treatments that use Aveda’s range of skin care products including facials, body treatments, manicures, pedicures, waxing and make-up applications. An Aveda retail area has also been introduced to the spa offering both skin and hair care merchandise.

Come dine with the ‘King of the Jungle’, Christopher Biggins, at The Harbour Heights Hotel

‘King of the Jungle’, Christopher Biggins, is set to host an exclusive lunch at the Harbour Heights Hotel in Poole on Sunday September 16 as part of a children’s charity fundraising event.


The I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here winner has tried some exotic edibles in his time but will now sit down to enjoy a fabulous three-course meal created by the hotel’s new head chef, Loic Gratadoux.


Starting at 12.30pm, tickets to the event are currently on sale priced at £55 per person with a £10 donation going to Variety, the children’s charity.  On arrival guests will be greeted with a drink and canapés before sitting down for lunch.  This will be followed by a talk from Christopher Biggins.


Well known for his performances in pantomime, credits in Porridge, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? and Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em,  Biggins’ career in comedy spans more than 40 years and his stories will entertain diners.

The Harbour Heights Hotel appoints new head chef

The Harbour Heights Hotel, part of Dorset’s independent hotel group the FJB Collection, has appointed a new head chef at its two AA red rosette restaurant, Harbar Bistro.

With more than 11 years’ experience, French-born Loic Gratadoux returns to the FJB Collection having previously worked at the Sandbanks-based Harbour Heights Hotel as junior sous chef between 2007 and 2008.

Loic studied at the Ecole Superieure de Cuisine Française before spending two years at La Table du Lancaster in Paris working with master chef Michel Troisgros. He travelled to Australia where he worked in one of the finest seafood restaurants, the Pier in Sydney. Following a move to England, he became junior sous chef at the Harbour Heights Hotel before becoming sous chef and then head chef at Christchurch Harbour Hotel.

His new role at the Harbour Heights will see him heading a nine-strong team at the Harbar Bistro and taking charge of the kitchen set-up and menus.

Commenting on his appointment, Loic said: “I am very pleased to join the team at The Harbour Heights Hotel and look forward to producing food for the Harbar Bistro which reflects the quality of service at the hotel. I will be launching new seasonal menus and will look at introducing some dishes with a French twist. I very much look forward to working with the hotel team, continuing to provide exceptional culinary experience at Harbar Bistro.”
