Bournemouth Airport’s new departures terminal celebrated in style thanks to local companies
Following 18 months of working around the clock and an investment worth £45 million. Bournemouth Airport was able to celebrate the completion of its new departures terminal in style. The launch evening was a fantastic success – thanks to the support of local catering, entertainment and marquee companies.
The launch night on 9th June saw guests being treated to a real passenger experience. On arrival attendees checked into the new departures terminal and enjoyed a pre-dinner drink served by Palmair cabin crew, whilst listening to a wonderfully relaxing quartet from the Dorset Music Service.
The hundreds of guests – who included local business leaders, Manchester Airport Group representatives as well as local councillors and Mayors – then moved into a marquee next to the new terminal building which was installed by Marlin Marquees. Guests were then served a delicious two course meal by Poole-based caterers, Beales Gourmet, which received huge praise from the guests.
The rest of the nights festivities were enjoyed airside (past security). Waiting for the guests was local band the Rat Pack from Bournemouth, as well as ladies on stilts who were beautifully dressed in colourful costumes, whilst aerialists entertained the guests by hanging from the terminal’s high ceiling. The finale of the night was when Chief Executive of the Manchester Airport Group, Geoff Muirhead unveiled the plaque adorning a wall of the old building, to complete the new terminal’s journey.
Rob Goldsmith, Managing Director, said: “It has been an amazing experience to have been involved in the transformation of Bournemouth Airport. Where possible, we have been keen to use local companies throughout the terminal redevelopment and everyone connected with our launch event certainly provided an extremely high level of service and professionalism.
“We are very proud of our new facilities and hope to become one of the best regional airports in the UK.”
