On Thursday November 27 the Dolphin Centre will be inviting shoppers to celebrate its official Christmas lights switch on and welcoming the arrival of Father Christmas to his enchanting alpine lodge. From 5pm to 6pm the free event, which is in aid of local children’s hospice Julia’s House, will include an array of festive treats comprising local entertainment and carol singing, and to top it off, a special guest will be doing the honours of switching on the lights.
Thursday VIP Late Nights:
In the lead up to Christmas Day, every Thursday from November 27, the Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole will be holding VIP late night shopping evenings from 6pm to 9pm. The exclusive events will be tailored to suit a different audience with special discounts from the Centre’s retailers, fantastic entertainment to enjoy while you shop, gift inspiration, demonstrations and giveaways. The VIP Late Nights will be for the following:
Owing to popular demand, Poole’s Dolphin Centre will be holding its second student shopping night on Monday September 29.
In partnership with Student Shopping UK, the Dolphin Centre will be throwing open its doors from 6pm to 9pm to exclusively welcome students from across the region.
Some of the biggest high street brands, including Topshop, New Look, Primark, River Island and Body Shop will be offering exclusive discounts, giveaways and competitions for one night only.
As well as all of this there will be free samples from Subway, plus local pubs and bars, an eight lane scalextric track and live music throughout the night from Bournemouth and Poole’s Dance and R&B station, Fire Radio, will be taking to the decks.
Centre manager John Grinnell said: “Last year more than 2,000 college and university students from across Poole and Bournemouth helped us launch the Dolphin Shopping Centre’s first-ever student shopping night. The event was a huge success, with retailers taking up to half of their usual day’s takings within the first hour of the event. This year will be even bigger and better and we look forward to welcoming more students to the centre.”

Across the weekend The Dolphin Shopping Centre became home to an archaeological site, where more than 1,000 children and their parents took part in an exciting mini excavation, met with dinosaur detectives and learnt about the Jurassic Coast and its inhabitants
The free, educational event encouraged youngsters to help dig for fossils around the shopping centre and included dinosaur related games and activities. The unit next to Thorntons was transformed into a Jurassic TV studio where children were interviewed on the hidden secrets they had discovered.
Centre manager John Grinnell, said: “Our Jurassic Poole event has been our most popular event to date and one we will definitely look to do again in the future. It was great to see so many mini archaeologists exploring the shopping centre, there was a continuous stream of people on both days and the atmosphere was fantastic.
“As a family shopping destination we aim to run a series of free events throughout the year and they work both well for shoppers and our tenants. Once again we have received excellent feedback from parents and the footfall at the Dolphin Centre was up throughout the whole weekend.”
