A runaway success for Girls Night Out

Beales in Bournemouth hosted another sell-out Girls Night Out on May 3, with up to 500 followers of fashion and a couple of celebrity guests attending the event in search of the latest spring and summer trends.

With a cool Britannia theme to support the key 2012 summer events including the Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the renowned Beales’ Girls Night Out event featured a catwalk celebration of the hottest spring and summer styles, beauty makeovers and skincare advice opportunities, style demonstrations, bra-fitting guidance as well as free champagne and canapés.

Raising more than £12,000 for Dorset’s children’s hospice Julia’s House, guests were treated to a catwalk show which featured the latest styles including florals, sugary pastel shades, ‘Brit chic’ red, white and blue colours as well as fabrics such as lace and chiffon; all from top fashion brands at Beales.

Also in attendance were actress and comedian, Debra Stephenson, and former X-Factor semi-finalist, Danyl Johnson.  Debra, also a patron of Julia’s House, helped to compere the fashion show and also entertained the audience with a series of outstanding impressions including Davina McCall, Katie Price, Cheryl Cole and Anne Robinson before Danyl Johnson took to the stage to perform and kick-off the show. Aside from the latest fashions, crowds watching the catwalk show were entertained during the penultimate scene by a professional dance act who have worked with some of the world’s biggest recording stars including Kylie, Take That, Cheryl Cole, Rihanna, Mariah Carey and X-Factor contestants.

Aside from the show, crowds flocked to the beauty department to indulge in a little pampering.  Dior’s guest make-up artist was on hand together with Laura Mercier make-up artists to provide the latest make-up techniques and tips and the Nail Clinic by Mavala proved popular.

Tony Brown, chief executive at Beales, said: “The event provided a spectacular pampering and shopping experience for all.  We had outstanding feedback from our guests and we wish to thank everyone for helping us to raise such a fantastic amount for charity.  Huge thanks to our celebrity guests, Debra Stephenson and Danyl Johnson, who both entertained the crowds with their amazing talents.   Our shoppers are very fashion conscious and our fabulous fashion shows provide inspiration for all shapes, sizes and budgets by showcasing the new season collections from our in-store brands. We’re looking forward to making our next autumn and winter show even better!”

GEM is back with a bang for spring

Following the success of the winter collection, ‘King of the High Street’ George Davies has designed a new GEM collection exclusively for Beales Department Store. Which is set to hit Bournemouth and Poole on Saturday 18 February.

Inspired by bright florals and featuring spring foliage prints, the GEM spring / summer collection is the perfect remedy to heavy winter clothes. With a variation of products that can be mixed and matched depending on the occasion, the range can be worn to work or Saturday lunch with the girls as well as celebrations such as christenings and weddings.

Quality of fabric and design is something that George Davies is famous for, as a result of taking styles from the catwalks and making them wearable.  This collection will not disappoint, with stunning prints and luxury embellishments, each piece stands out from the crowd.

Bright hues and prints are a key trend for 2012 and the GEM collection features both. Amina Erlandsson  buyer at Beales said:

“Prints and patterns are big news this spring/summer with many top designers showcasing them including Miu Miu, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton. Feeling confident in an outfit is answer to looking fabulous this season and GEM includes a number of stunning jersey dresses and maxi dresses in gorgeous prints that will flatter any figure by skimming curves.”

George Davies comments: “Following the outstanding success of the first GEM collection, I was really happy to design a second exclusively for Beales. I have really focused on colour for this collection and hope that it will brighten up women’s wardrobes everywhere.”

Tony Brown, CEO of Beales, added: ‘George Davies is a pleasure to work with and we are thrilled that he has returned to design a spring / summer collection of GEM for Beales. His inaugural range was extremely popular and we believe that this one will prove to be a hit when it was introduced to stores in February’
