Breeze Volkswagen Van Centre in Poole Tower Park is going back through the decades to mark the Transporter’s heritage, which spans more than sixty years.

Breeze Van Centre commissioned Stripes of Bournemouth to theme four new T6 vehicles with designs that bring to life the trends and music of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.  Breeze has also commissioned a 90s version and is planning to launch an open competition for Volkswagen fans to decide what should feature on the 00s version.

Paul O’Brien, head of business at Breeze Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in Poole, is delighted they could bring the vehicle’s rich heritage to life. He said: “The Transporter is one of Volkswagen’s most iconic vehicles and, having been perfected over 60 years, is as popular today as ever.

“We are sure that Transporter fans will love the old-school designs and customers using these vans for test drives and as loan vehicles can, subject to availability, choose which design they’d like to drive.”

The first generation, or T1 version of the Transporter was produced in the 1950s, with the T2 appearing in the 1960s, T3 in 1970s, T4 in 1990, T5 in 2000’s and most recently the T6 in autumn 2015.

The T6 has new features for improved safety, comfort and convenience as well as a new engine, large load compartment and a variety of seating and compartment options. The 2.0 TDI and BiTDI diesel engines with the EU5 and EU6 emissions standards deliver power outputs from 84 PS up to 204 PS.

All Transporter engines include BlueMotion Technology featuring Start/Stop, regenerative braking and low rolling resistance tyres as well as new infotainment and assistance systems.  The new touch-screen display includes DAB+ radio and Bluetooth and the navigation system helps drivers find parking spaces, petrol stations and live traffic information. Driver assistance systems include; Front Assist with City Emergency Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), High Beam Assist and Driver Alert.
