With the nation going baking crazy following the return of ‘The Great British Bake Off’, Wave 105 Cash for Kids is encouraging people across the south to stage their very own bake off on Sunday August 24.

The charity is partnering with kitchen appliance specialist, Kenwood, to hold it’s first-ever ‘Big Bake Day’ to raise funds for underprivileged and disadvantaged children in the area.

Gloria Hill, Wave 105 Cash for Kids charity manager said: “We’re asking families, friends and workplaces to come together to bake, have fun and sell their creations in aid of Cash for Kids.

“The Big Bake Day is the perfect opportunity to bring our communities together in a wholesome and fun way that reflects the UK’s current obsession with baking muffins, victoria sponges and tarts, plus the added bonus of helping and supporting underprivileged and disadvantaged children.”

Seb Goff, trade marketing manager for Kenwood added: “We are extremely excited to be involved in the ‘Big Bake Day’ and it has been made even more special by benefiting such a fantastic local charity. We hope that the money raised will go some way to helping many local children.”

To get involved with The Big Bake Day, Wave 105 Cash for Kids is asking supporters to organise a cake sale, either with friends and family, in their place of work or at local community centres. Those interested in signing up for the campaign are invited to register online at www.wave105.com where fundraising materials and posters are available for download, plus a mouth-watering selection of recipes from Kenwood for those new to baking or in need of some inspiration.

Donations can be made online via the dedicated Big Bake Day web page or by texting WAVE to 70070 to donate £2. All funds will be given to Cash for Kids and there are no additional charges for the message. Cash and cheques can be hand delivered to the station.
