We’ve had Tanya Nguyen, a second year Creative Event Management student from the Arts University Bournemouth to do two weeks’ work placement at Liz Lean PR and here is what she has to say about her experience…
Event Management contains marketing and PR elements. Having the right marketing tools is crucial in order for the events to be successful. Attracting the right audience for any event can be quite tricky and challenging, hence I wanted to learn all the tips and tricks on how to write press releases correctly and what tools to use to approach a wider audience.
I didn’t know what to expect from this work placement, thinking that two weeks wouldn’t be enough to learn, but I was proved wrong! I came in with a very generic view of marketing and PR, but now I have a better understanding of the sector, all thanks to the wonderful staff at Liz Lean PR.
I had a great pleasure assisting with a competition campaign for Paultons Park, which involved researching top UK parenting bloggers and communicating with them. This was such an eye opener for me, seeing the reach that an individual blogger could achieve. Apart from that, I had a go at drafting press releases and helped out with social media plans and networking plans for the month ahead. It was fun contributing to the brainstorming session for new business pitches.
The best part of the work placement was working with such lovely, friendly and very supportive staff! They would kindly explain processes to me, answer all my questions, tell me when I made mistakes and how to improve them. They made me feel welcome and helped me to have a smooth journey at Liz Lean PR.
Thank you Alice, Louise, Cat, Stuart, Holly, Shona, Caitlin, Nicky and Liz for such an amazing experience! I would like to express my biggest gratitude to Alice Rook for explaining things so thoroughly to me, checking up on me every two hours and ensuring that I always had plenty to be getting on with.
