A Lymington woman has knitted 60 “Dougie Bear” teddies to be given to disadvantaged children through Wave 105’s Cash for Kids.

Madge Slavin, who is originally from South Africa, knitted the colourful companions in memory of her nephew, Dougie Peirce, who died in Johannesburg earlier this year.

Madge said: “Dougie loved children when he was alive, so it has brought great comfort to my sister to knit teddies for children in his memory.

“I would be very happy if my Dougie Bears brought pleasure to children.”

The teddies will go to children in women’s refuges in Bournemouth and Havant.
