Cotswold-based clothing brand, Weird Fish, has confirmed its support for the Cheltenham 41st Scouts Group.
Working with the group’s welfare officer, whose role is to support young people who have limiting life chances and help them to participate in the scouting programme of events, Weird Fish will be supplying factory samples as well as slightly damaged stock that the group can use to donate to families or sell to help fundraise.
From jumpers to jackets and accessories such as hats, gloves and scarves, the donated clothing will be used to help the youngsters get actively involved in the programme of outdoor events which will enable them to gain experience in activities that would be unachievable in everyday life without the right kit.
Weird Fish is also organising a factory sale on Saturday December 3, from 9am to 5pm, and Sunday December 4, from 10am to 4pm, at the Cheltenham Racecourse. The clothing brand has invited the Cheltenham 41st Scouts Group to attend and assist at the sale while at the same time raising funds for the group.
The factory sale will give customers the chance to purchase factory samples, old season and current season stock with up to 80 per cent off. The Cheltenham 41st Scouts Group are set to hold a skittles challenge at the factory sale, where shoppers will be invited to try and make a strike to win prizes.
Bill Booth, welfare officer at the Cheltenham 41st Scouts Group, says: “The group is entirely run through volunteering but we do need to maintain a programme of fundraising events to enable us to purchase equipment and to fund the camps and trips we undertake. Many of the youngsters are lacking the basic kit requirements and we are extremely grateful for the support provided by Weird Fish.
“The Weird Fish brand is a perfect match for our community work as it inspires the get up and go which is at the heart of the Scout ethos. We wish to thank Weird Fish for its support.”
John Stockton, managing director at Weird Fish, says: “It’s important to build good relationships with local clubs, events and societies and support the community where our head office is located.”
