Wave 105's Newsreader Michael Coombes SUPing!

To encourage families to spend quality time together, Wave 105 Cash for Kids is hosting a Family Day with Foresters, the international financial services organisation, on Saturday July 27 at Eastlands Boatyards in Southampton.

Cash for Kids and Foresters, the international financial services organisation, have teamed up with ActionVan Stand Up Paddleboard Club for the main event, a 5km Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) race, at 2pm from Eastlands Boatyard. Headed up by Wave 105 newsreader, Michael Coombes, competitors will travel 2.5km up stream before turning on a marker buoy to race back to the finish line.

A ‘Fun-board Fleet’ (boards under 12’6″) will be available for beginners and there will also be a 1km race for the under 16s so everyone can compete and join in the fun. The overall prize giving presentation will be held at 4pm.

Gloria Hill, charity manager for Cash for Kids, said: “The aim of the day is to get the whole family together to spend some quality time in each other’s company. If you’ve never raced before don’t worry, we’ll be on hand to point you in the right direction. £10 from every entry will be donated to Cash for Kids, so come along, take part and help raise funds for a very worthy cause.”

The best view point for spectators wishing to watch the event is from the pontoon at Manor Farm Country Park.
