The Bournemouth International Centre was home to a host of music stars for the fourth Wave 105 Live! concert on Saturday May 31.
Not only was there an array of pop talent on display, but the sell-out crowd was also treated to nearly five hours of entertainment.
With audiences ranging in age from five to 60 plus, there was an act for everyone to enjoy and the atmosphere was electric.
X Factor contestant, Ella Henderson, kicked off Wave 105 Live! and reminded audiences once again why we fell in love with the young TV talent star. Second on the bill, were Alabama-born siblings, The Pierces. From their opening song, they mesmerised the crowd with their breezy, melodious charm.
Third up, and without doubt the biggest crowd-pleaser of the evening, was Peter Andre. As well as taking on the role as guest host for the evening, the showman looked dapper in a suit for his swing set which included songs from his new album ‘Big Night’. Never one to disappoint, the global media star, who has 15 top 20 hits and three number one singles in the UK, got the enthusiastic crowd up on their feet with his renowned smash hit, ‘Mysterious Girl.’
Former Pussycat Doll and accomplished dancer Ashley Roberts strutted her stuff on stage wearing sky-scraper heels, a colourful pencil skirt and leather jacket. She blew the audience away as she belted out her debut single ‘Clockwork’. It was her first ever show in Bournemouth and although she admitted to being nervous without the girls to rely on, Ashley delighted the crowd.
David Gray, armed with an acoustic guitar and a superb voice, proved that a simple set can still make for a spine-tingling impact. After a four-year break away from the spotlight, David dazzled the crowd and had them singing along with his classic hits ‘Babylon’ and ‘Sail Away.’
80’s pop funk band Level 42 are back and from the Wave 105 Live! audience’s reaction, better than ever! Mark King was in fine form with his illuminated sparkling guitar and the popular band stormed through their set with a catalogue of hits.
Another fabulous femme-fatale was next to take-over the stage; the stunning Pixie Lott delivered a powerful performance and threw out some energetic shapes. Pixie performed a medley of her chart-topping songs in an on-trend pinstriped pair of shorts, which she teamed with a cropped top and white tasselled loafers. The ‘All About Tonight’ hit-maker entertained the crowds and showed off her vocal range with an acoustic version of her set list.
It was little surprise headline act, Paloma Faith, would round-up the evening with a terrific performance. Known for her kooky persona and also for making some rather beautiful and distinctive pop music, Paloma danced on a piano and wowed the audience with her powerful voice with hits including ‘Can’t Rely On You’ and current single ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’. With it being her second year performing at Wave 105 Live! Paloma ended the night on a massive high and the crowd went wild.
Keith Penny, Wave 105 Live! event director, said: “Wow! What a night! This was our fourth Wave 105 Live! and undoubtedly our best yet. The atmosphere was incredible all night from the first act to the last and even between the acts the audience were fully up for interacting with our entertainment sequences. It was great to see such a diverse age range all having such a fun time together. Our thanks go out to all of the audience, sponsors and of course the artists for making it such a great night.”
“We are looking forward to bringing more big names to Bournemouth in August for Night Air at the Bournemouth Air Festival.”
