Portsmouth Pride Variety Show has welcomed Wave 105 as the main stage sponsor and supporter of the Portsmouth Pride Schools Project.
From 1-9pm on Saturday June 20, the show will feature the best of local entertainment at the new venue on Southsea Common.
Pride’s chair, David Lee-Bastable, said: “It’s fantastic that we have the support of regional radio. Wave 105’s sponsorship has helped us to make Pride a free event that absolutely everyone can enjoy.”
Wave 105’s sponsorship will also raise funds for Portsmouth Pride Schools Project, which will provide role models and speakers for local schools. Portsmouth Pride is bringing together many different community groups who are determined to raise awareness to help eliminate bullying.
Bullying can make young people’s lives miserable, and there is a high level of self-harm and even suicide among Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) teenagers, and others who face prejudice and discrimination in their daily lives, even from their own families.
Bringing Mardi Gras to the Portsmouth Pride Parade, Raw Samba is set to leave Guildhall Square at noon. Everyone is welcome to come along, wave their flags, and blow their whistles to Drum Nation.
Mary Burgess, Pride’s sponsorship manager, added: “Listen out for news about our ‘Pride Reunion the Afterparty’ on Wave 105’s what’s on guide on the radio. This will help us create a wonderful party with a burlesque theme at Tiger Tiger Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth.”
