Thirteen thousand people attended ’Night Air at the Piers’ in association with Corona at Boscombe Pier, on Friday August 31 and Saturday September 1, to watch top pop acts presented by Wave 105.

Friday night featured Poole girl Moya, followed by X-Factor finalist Amelia Lily who is tipped for a number one in the singles chart this week. Folk-inspired Honey Rider played before the feel-good tones of Newton Faulkner got the crowd going. The grand finale of the night was Rizzle Kicks, who the 6,500 strong crowd went wild for.

Saturday was another full-on schedule for Boscombe with the chart topping British band Lawson, 2010 X-Factor winner Matt Cardle joined by Ben Montague, Ryan O’Shaughnessy, The Loveable Rogues and the group of the summer, Scouting for Girls.

Jon Brooks, Wave 105’s sales, marketing and operations director, said: “This was the first year that Wave 105 has hosted the Night Air stage at Boscombe pier.   We are delighted with the enthusiasm surrounding the event and the sold-out status of the tickets.”

“Night Air was so full of excitement from the surprise fly-past by the Red Arrows on Friday evening and the huge array of night flights to the chart-topping artists wowing the crowds. The atmosphere was electric and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.”

Jon Weaver, Air Festival director added; “The addition of the Wave 105 Corona Stage in Boscombe proved to be a great success which shows from the sheer volume of people that attended.

“Our ambition was to try and build on our Night Air entertainment offering and we certainly delivered thanks to Wave 105, who provided the great performers. It was a memorable weekend for everyone.”
