The renowned Drewitt Group in Bournemouth, has joined an eco-friendly initiative to offset its CO ² emissions by planting trees in British woodlands.
Drewitts has used Allstar fuel cards for a number of years and they in turn have now partnered with Forest Carbon, to turn emissions into woodlands. The scheme totals business mileage and informs companies in the scheme about how many trees need to be planted in order to offset their CO ² emissions. According to Allstar, vehicle emissions account for 20 per cent of UK wide emissions and each new tree planted absorbs up to 2kg of carbon dioxide per annum.
The Drewitt group currently has 17 vehicles in its fleet which are used every day to provide building maintenance, plumbing, heating and fire alarm services to businesses in Dorset, Hampshire and central southern England.
Richard Drewitt, managing director at The Drewitt Group, said: “We are delighted to join this scheme which is really simple & straightforward and allows us to be confident that we are actively helping to give back to the environment. The use of our fleet of vehicles is vital to the day to day working of our business and we wouldn’t be able to function without them, so I think it is a great initiative and as a company it helps us to become more aware of how using vehicles can make a negative impact on the environment.”
Drewitts pays a small sum per vehicle per month to be registered on the scheme.
The Drewitt Group was founded in 1877 and combines Drewlec Electrical Services, Drewsons Building Maintenance and Drewsons Plumbing and Heating Services.
