As part of its Don’t Drive Wednesdays’ campaign, the Dolphin shopping centre in Poole is encouraging more families to leave their car at home throughout the summer holidays and to visit Poole town centre by bus, train, bike or on foot.

The Dolphin shopping centre urges more Poole residents to make the most of its more bus Don’t Drive Wednesdays’ bus ticket, that allows passengers to travel all day anywhere in Zone A for £3.50. The ticket is available to download via the more bus mobile app, which is currently selling between 30 to 90 day tickets.

The Dolphin has also partnered with its resident bike shop, Cycle Paths, to offer a free bike MOT to anyone who cycles to the Centre on a Wednesday throughout the school holidays.

Dolphin centre manager, John Grinnell, said: “The summer holidays are a perfect time for families to get out and about, whether it’s on foot or by bike. Catching the bus or train to Poole can be a cost effective option when you consider the increasing cost of fuel as well as car parking for a full day in the town centre.”

The Dolphin’s Don’t Drive Wednesdays’ initiative has been successful in promoting other transport options available to shoppers, tenants, staff and businesses. Since its launch back in May, the Dolphin has witnessed a rise in the number of people cycling to the centre and more bus has seen an increase in the number of users accessing its mobile app.

John added: “The Dolphin is committed to promoting sustainable transport and we believe encouraging people to leave their car at home, when possible, is the right way forward in making Poole a greener town.”
