Tapper Funeral Service’s Outlook Bereavement Support programme is proud to have helped thousands of local people since it originally launched seven years ago.

When the programme launched in 2011 by family-run Tapper Funeral Service, it was the first of its kind and was created to provide bereavement counselling and support across Dorset and Hampshire. As part of the programme Tapper runs a series of free monthly events bringing the bereaved together to help one another through the grieving process by meeting new friends who have shared similar experiences.

The complimentary events are informal and give people who have lost their loved ones in recent years the chance to talk about their feelings, or simply listen to others. The events held vary throughout the year and range from buffet lunches held at various venues across the county, to monthly walks around some of the county’s best nature spots.

Now in its seventh year, the Outlook Bereavement Support programme has created a number of friendship networks for the bereaved, with longstanding members of the group often meeting up between the monthly events.

Steven Tapper, joint managing director of Tapper Funeral Service, said: “We created Outlook Bereavement Support to give back to our local communities by extending our care to help people find the tools they require to make it through the difficult early days of bereavement. It is so important to us to keep our events free to attend so that anyone who wishes to come along can do so regardless of their financial position.

“We are pleased to see the positivity our events bring to the bereaved across the region and this is evident in the vast numbers of people which we have helped since the programme began. We hope to help even more people in years to come, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the community come together to support each other and make friends for life.”

Family-run Tapper Funeral Service was established more than 100 years ago, serving many generations of the local communities in Dorset and Hampshire. Its funeral homes are calm and tranquil places designed to put the bereaved at ease.
