Talbot Village Trust has presented the Bus Stop Club in Ferndown, with more than £4,000 to carry out essential insulation works to the charity’s building.
Previously in 2010, the grant giving charity donated £40,000 to the Bus Stop Club to put towards the purchase of the Turbary Resource Centre. The Trust has more recently provided the funds for the centre to install new insulation into the building’s walls and also replace the lighting with more energy efficient fixtures.
The Charity offers support and advice through their CAP (Christians Against Poverty) Centre for those in unmanageable debt living in the East Dorset area and beyond. They also provide individual support to parents of school age children, run after school and holiday activities, and provide low cost healthy meals on Friday evenings in the Good Food Community Café. SOS, a weekly support group for those affected by childhood abuse and trauma, also runs every year from January to July. Mental Health First aid courses for workers and volunteers are also held once a term.
Derek Howshall, Chairman of the Bus Stop Club, said: “Since 2010, the Trustees of Talbot Village Trust have been very supportive of the work which we carry out within the community. This includes providing a range of support services to the most vulnerable families in the local area. The grants received from the Trust have been invaluable and allowed our services to continue operating and most importantly, grow.”
Russell Lucas-Rowe, Trustee of Talbot Village Trust, added: “The Bus Stop Club is the only group in East Dorset which supports local parents with children of a school age to help reduce the levels of stress in a family. The unique service which they provide across the county helps so many and we are pleased to have helped the charity on a number of occasions in the past, as they look to reach more people.”
