Poole-based T.A.Colbourne Limited (TAC) is an outstanding employer with a clear commitment to sustainability, according to Investors in People (IIP).

The international standard for people management, IIP, defines what it takes to lead, support and manage people effectively to achieve sustainable results. After being reassessed against the IIP standard, the specialist contractors for commercial, industrial and public sector buildings, TAC, has successfully maintained its accreditation.

Investment in people practitioner, Tracey Pullen, interviewed director of TAC, Tom Colbourne and members of his team to assess the company against a number of criteria including, but not limited to: learning needs, opportunity and resources for development and support, as well as vision, purpose, strategy and business planning.

Tracey Pullen said: “It is evident that there is a hugely positive and supportive culture at T.A.Colbourne, which everyone believes and participates in, and this drives behaviours as well as decisions. Core values at the firm are in place, understood and demonstrated by all staff on a daily basis.”

The firm was found to work hard at communication, providing information, networking, updates and discussion around improvements and review of projects. People are encouraged to put forward ideas and suggestions as well as being consulted and listened to. Training is provided and team working and collaboration is built.

Tracy added: “As an organisation, T.A.Colbourne truly encompasses the ethos of Investors in People.”

Commenting on the accreditation, Tom Colbourne said: “We are thrilled to have received this feedback and feel it demonstrates our commitment to our most valuable asset, our people.  We want to encourage them to flourish and gain satisfaction from their work. To have Investors in People endorse our approach is extremely gratifying.”
