SUPing the day away!

Wave 105 Cash for Kids and Foresters, the international financial services organisation, teamed up with ActionVan Stand Up Paddleboard Club (AV SUP Club) and the British Stand Up Paddle Association (BSUPA) to host a five mile SUP race.

£500 was raised from the day, with all proceeds going to Wave105 Cash for Kids.

23 competitors took part in the race at Eastlands Boatyard in Southampton, including several elite competitors and Wave 105’s very own journalist, Michael Coombes.

Drew Wood from ActionVan, said: “We wanted to work with Wave 105 on this event as the station has such a strong regional presence. The team really helped us to promote the sport of SUP in the area, and as they are based just up the road it was great to get them out on the water. The station name fits pretty well too!”

Richard Marsh from BSUPA, said: “BSUPA were pleased to work in partnership with the Southampton Based BSUPA Centre ActionVan SUP Club to put together this great event. We were also thrilled to have Wave 105 on board promoting the event.

“As well as all the SUPing, funds were raised on the day for Wave 105 Cash for Kids, so there were lots of smiling people – they got to take part in a sport they loved while also raising funds and awareness to benefit  others. We are looking forward to having the opportunity to stage this event again with Wave 105 next year.”
