Wave 105 Cash for Kids is calling on its supporters and listeners to join them on Thursday June 18 in becoming superheroes for the day.

The charity is encouraging as many individuals, businesses and schools from across the region to get involved by making a donation and donning their best superhero outfits. This is the second year Cash for Kids have encouraged people to dust off their capes and raise much needed funds for disadvantaged children across the south.

Wave 105 Cash for Kids provides grants to individual children, other children’s charities, community groups and health organisations. This year four charities have been named as beneficiaries for the 2015 superhero day including:

  • Diverse Abilities – providing support to disabled children in the Bournemouth Area
  • The Brains Trust – supporting children on the Isle of Wight with brain tumours
  • South Hampshire Deaf Society – supporting deaf children across Hampshire
  • Open Sight, Eastleigh – providing support to blind children across Hampshire

Wave 105’s charity manager, Gloria Hill, said: “We all had a fantastic time last year wearing our fancy dress outfits and lots of lycra! So many people got involved by sending us photos throughout the day, and most importantly by helping to raise £10,000 for Cash for Kids.

“We are once again encouraging everyone to get in touch with us on the day by sending us their photos, including ‘superhero selfies’, and by making a donation. The Wave 105 team will be getting involved too, making ‘flying’ visits to businesses and schools. Every penny raised really will make a difference to the lives of local children.”
