Four employees working at Dorset and Somerset law firm, Humphries Kirk completed ‘Race to the Sun Brecon Beacons 2016’, on Saturday June 25 to raise funds for Action Medical Research.
Lucy Fisher, Melissa Baker, Claudia Legg and Hannah Tengnah entered the event as a group with the aim of completing a 25 miles cycle to the foot of Pen y Fan, climb Pen y Fan reaching a vertical height of more than 2,400ft, canoe 2km across a reservoir and cycle a further 19 miles back to the starting point.
Lucy commented: “Sadly Hannah got injured just before the challenge, so Melissa, Claudia and I became the three amigos and were one of three female only teams. The challenge was tough, but we were pleased to come 87th out of the 103 teams which entered.
“It took us a total of 12 hours to complete all four stages and the weather wasn’t kind to us so we got very cold and wet throughout! It was good fun though and more than £150,000 has been raised so far from all the teams. The funds will go towards an 18 month research project by Action Medical Research.”
