Sholing Football Club has announced Wave 105 Cash for Kids will be its charity of the season at its first friendly match against Southampton FC Under 21s.

The club has donated tickets to the charity for disadvantaged children to come and experience its home games. Bucket collections will take place at nominated Cash for Kids matches throughout the season.

Greg Dickson, secretary of Sholing Football Club, says: “We are delighted to have picked Wave 105 Cash for Kids as our charity for this coming season. We chose Cash for Kids because it is a local charity, and as a local charter standard community football club, we felt we could offer children a chance to sample a match day experience without it costing the earth.”

As a community football club, Sholing FC works hard to encourage people within the local community to attend and bring their families. With the belief that the focus should be on grassroots and not just the Man Utd’s and Chelsea’s of the game, the club provides the opportunity for children as young as three to get involved by running Saturday soccer sessions.

Greg adds: “We look forward to welcoming the children on a match day and are highlighting five matches for Cash for Kids bucket collections. We have already had an enquiry from a supporter wanting to participate in a parachute jump, which we will whole heartily support, and we will look to raise money for the charity throughout this season.”

The club currently supports teams from under eight’s through to under 18’s as well as two adult and a ladies side.
