Wave 105 competition winners Paul and Kathy Curram with Scouting for Girls at the Up Close and Personal gig
Wave 105 helped a listener surprise his wife with a special birthday gift of VIP tickets for the Scouting for Girls Up Close and Personal gig, in association with Carling, on Thursday June 20 at the Fat Fox in Southsea.
Three years ago, brave Patrick Jeram-Silvey proposed to Caroline in front of the audience at a Wave 105 Scouting for Girls gig so this event was even more poignant for the lovebirds.
Despite a brief encounter with breast cancer, their relationship has gone from strength to strength, and when Patrick got in touch with the couple’s ‘friends’ at Wave 105, the station jumped at the chance to help.
Patrick says: “I can’t think of anything that would be better than to surprise her (again!) with a pair of tickets to see them.
“Thanks to Wave 105 and all the presenters for being such a big part of our lives with all the great music you play, the entertaining banter and the great events you put on for your listeners.”
Scouting for girls played an intimate 45 minute set packed full of pop songs, including ‘She’s So Lovely’ and ‘Elvis Ain’t Dead’. The pop rock band dedicated their current single ‘Millionaire’ to another set of lovebirds, Paul and Kathy Curram who were celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary.
Due out on July 29 2013, the band’s new Greatest Hits album includes two brand new songs alongside old favourites, such as ‘Heartbeat’.
