Entries have been flooding in from children across Dorset who participated in Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital and AFC Bournemouth’s ‘Bug Busting’ workshops.

The schoolchildren have been busy creating eye-catching posters for the chance to have their original art appear on the walls of the AFCB Goldsands Stadium.

Bug Busters sees fun and practical lessons provided to schools across Dorset with an emphasis on the correct procedure for hand-washing to help prevent disease and infection. As part of the workshops, children have been invited to create a poster reminding visitors to AFC Bournemouth’s Goldsands Stadium in Kings Park to wash their hands.

The Bug Busting team have been inundated with entries, which will be judged by David McNair, director of Nuffield Health Hospital Bournemouth, and Cherries stalwart Simon Francis. The judges are looking for original and creative designs that capture the important hand washing health message.

Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital infection prevention lead Chris Tickner said: “We are excited to be receiving such well-designed and creative posters. Public spaces harbour many infectious and potentially harmful bacteria, most of which are kept at bay with simple techniques, such as thorough hand-washing. It’s testament to the ongoing success of the programme and truly inspiring to see the children take this message on from our workshops.”

Simon Francis, AFC Bournemouth defender and ambassador, commented: “It’s great to see the posters we are receiving in their droves. The children are doing a fantastic job of sharing all of the key workshop messages with our supporters. It’s going to be tough to choose the winning design…!”

As well as having their poster in pride of place on the walls around the football stadium, the winner will have the opportunity to meet AFC Bournemouth players, receive a goody bag and match tickets. The closing date for entries from children who have already taken part in Bug Busters workshops is Thursday April, 2.

Posters can be sent to: Shirley Ewart, Customer Services Department, Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital, 67, Lansdowne Road, Bournemouth, BH1 1RW.
