Internationally-renowned stationery giant, Pukka Pads, has confirmed its sponsorship of champion archer Kevin Hughes.
The Grimsby resident is a long-serving employee of Cardinal Brands, which is part of the Pukka Pads group of companies.
Kevin has won 19 out of 23 archery competitions this year, including winning the County Indoor Championships for the third year running and will use Pukka’s contribution to purchase a new set of carbon arrows.
The print department supervisor has worked at Cardinal Brands for more than 18 years and in that time Kevin has seen Pukka Pads takeover the leading paper-based supplier.
Kevin said: “Thanks to Pukka’s sponsorship I can now buy myself a new set of arrows. I feel I am shooting at a good enough standard to upgrade the arrows I have been using for the last five years.”
Kevin’s hobby started six years ago when he joined Grimsby Archers. In 2007 he was achieving high enough scores to be selected to represent Lincolnshire as part of the County Archery Gents Recurve team. He has since been selected for the team every year.
He adds: “During the outdoor season, which is the beginning of April to the end of September, I normally train four times a week. For the indoor season I train twice a week.”
