Since the summer Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC) and the Daily Echo have been running a photographic competition to celebrate Poole’s vibrant harbour.
The competition, which has been incorporated into the ‘Have Your Say’ section of the paper, concludes in November with the final category open to professional photographers giving them the chance to win £350 worth of Castle Cameras vouchers.
Each month a different theme has been used to entice readers to submit their photographs and hundreds of readers have submitted images capturing all aspects of harbour life, from boating, watersports and commercial port activities to wildlife and fishing.
To round-up the competition, professional photographers are being asked to send in their Poole Harbour photos, whether they are old or new, black and white or colour, action shots or images of the harbour landscape.
The four winning photographs from each category will be judged against one another at PHC’s Open Evening at the Port of Poole on Thursday November 22 to select an overall winner.
Jim Stewart, chief executive of the Poole Harbour Commissioners, says: “It’s fantastic to finish the competition by offering professional photographers the opportunity to communicate and share their photography skills. The harbour must be one of the most photographed beauty spots in Dorset and we know professional photographers will have a different perspective of it.”
To enter, email your picture to photos@bournemouthecho.co.uk and include the words ‘PHC professional photographers’ in the subject line.
Entrants must include their name, address, telephone number, email address and a brief description of the location or event and time of year. Closing date for entries is 17/11/12.
