Poole Harbour continues to enjoy increased interest from small cruise ship visits with Noble Caledonia confirming cruises to Poole with ‘Island Sky’ in April, ‘Serenissima’ in May and ‘Corinthian’ in August.
Island Sky will be the first to set off from Poole on Monday April 29. It will be the cruise ship’s first visit to the UK since its major refurbishment.
Destinations planned for the various cruises include islands tours such as the Scilly Isles, Sark, Herm, Lundy and Garnish Island. Other schedules include coastal tours of Great Britain incorporating great houses and gardens from Cornwall to Dublin and Scotland. All scheduled cruises commence from Poole with passengers embarking in Poole Harbour.
Jim Stewart, chief executive for Poole Harbour Commissioners is reassured that such cruise business continues to build for the town. He says: “It was exciting to see an uplift in cruise business in 2012 and for it to increase further this year is reassurance that Poole is an attractive Port for cruise operators such as Noble Caledonia. We work very hard to ensure the best customer service for these organisations and hope that the message may spread wider throughout the industry that Poole is a perfect place to bring their business. With the enhanced Quay facilities set out in the PHC master plan, we will provide greater opportunities for cruise activity in the years to come.”
