The Wave 105 Cash for Kids team is busy gearing up for one of its largest appeals, its annual charity auction.
Now in its sixth year, the 2015 auction will open from 6pm on Friday October 2, where listeners will be able to visit the Wave 105 website to view a host of items, including many ‘unique experiences’ and ‘money can’t buy’ prizes. The lots will be available online for the best part of a week, giving people the opportunity to browse and place their bids, before closing on-air at hourly intervals the following Thursday October 8.
Many prizes have been donated already by local businesses including a one night’s stay for two at the FJB group’s Harbour Heights Hotel in Sandbanks with breakfast and a three course meal in the hotel’s rosette ‘Harbour’ restaurant, as well as a special edition print from this year’s Bournemouth Air Festival (donated by Think Aero Bournemouth).
Some of the ‘one-of-a-kind’ items include the chance to work with a reporter and become a ‘newshound for the day’ at the Bournemouth Daily Echo, the opportunity to purchase an antique hand built Villiers 98cc motorbike with a 1949 frame (donated by Serendipity Bournemouth), as well as sitting in on Wave 105 Steve Power’s breakfast show followed by breakfast with the popular host himself.
Wave 105 Cash for Kids charity manager, Gloria Hill, said: “The charity auction is a key event in our diary every year. In 2014 our listeners, bidders and supporters helped to raise more than £35,000 through the auction, so we’re hoping this year will be even better.
“Local businesses and organisations are continuing to be extremely generous and prizes are coming in on a daily basis. There is something on offer for everyone, and in previous year’s we’ve found the auction to be a great way for people to start their Christmas shopping – by doing this they’re also raising money for an extremely worthwhile cause.”
This year the Cash for Kids team will be taking bids through www.wave105.com/pages/wave-105-charity-auction-2015/ and via text bids right the way through the week. The final bids will be confirmed each hour live on-air on Thursday October 8, Wave 105. Items that are under £250 will close on the radio station’s website 7pm also on October 8.
You can bid via text using: 8850 and by following the instructions.
