A new, independent pet store business in Poole has offered to help support a Poole hospice.

Marshalls Pet Food Store, a family-run business which opened its first store in Reading in 1990, has recently opened a second store in Ashley Cross in Poole.

The new store has agreed to sponsor a Woofers Woodland Walk which encourages dogs and their owners to put their best paw and foot forward for the hospice. This takes place on Sunday 29 April in Wareham Forest.

Registration costs £5 and proceeds from this gentle, two- mile, circular sponsored walk will go to help Poole’s Forest Holme hospice, which is dedicated to caring for patients with cancer and other life limiting illnesses.

Each dog that takes part will receive a goodie bag of treats, courtesy of Marshalls plus there will be various pet prizes to be won.

Emma Marshall from Marshalls says: “We are relatively new to the area as we have moved down from Reading so this is an opportunity for us to let people know who we are and where we are, whilst supporting a great cause.

She adds: “Very much like most people we have had and continue to have friends and family affected by cancer, so this seemed a great opportunity to sponsor a very worthy cause.”

Fundraising manager Debra Dennett says: “This is a fun morning for all the family and their canine friends and an easy way to help raise much needed funds for the hospice. We are delighted to receive such generous support from Marshalls Pet Food Store. ”
