Lizzi Briscoe, manager of Patrick’s Restaurant, Bar and Event Catering in Ashley Cross, has raised a total of £1,633.65 in sponsorship for the Alzheimer’s Society, after running the Brighton Marathon last month.
The 25 year old from Poole, who ran the 26-mile marathon in just over five hours, donated her cheque in person to Alzheimer’s Society dementia support worker Verity Campbell yesterday.
Lizzi had a very personal reason for choosing to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, which helps sufferers and their carers cope with dementia. Her Dad was diagnosed three years ago with early onset of dementia, aged 59 years.
Explaining her delight at the total sponsorship raised she said: “Thanks to the generosity of the customers at Patrick’s and my friends and family, I managed to raise over £600 more than I imagined, for a cause that’s very close to my heart.”
She added: “I’m really pleased to have raised funds for the Alzheimer’s Society because they are so supportive of carers and families, as well as doing great work with dementia sufferers.”
In addition to the Alzheimer’s Society, the Patrick’s team supports a number of other registered charities including the Royal Marines, Prostate Cancer UK and the Round Table Children’s Wish.
