ODEON Dorchester supports Julia's House in 2014

ODEON Dorchester has launched a year-long fundraising drive for Julia’s House, Dorset’s only hospice dedicated to children with life-limiting conditions.

The Brewery Square-based cinema has selected the charity for the ‘amazing work’ it does with the children it cares for and the expert support it provides to their families.

Bucket collections and a series of charity screenings are some of the ways in which the ODEON Dorchester aims to raise money throughout the year.

Alan Escott, general manager at ODEON Dorchester, says: “We are excited to have appointed Julia’s House as our charity of the year.  With the help of our cinema-goers, we aim to work closely with the charity over the course of this year to generate as many funds and awareness as possible to support the amazing work the charity undertakes.”

He adds: “Julia’s House makes a hugely positive contribution to the Dorset community and that should be commended. We are delighted to be able to assist the charity in their crucial work and look forward to working with them this year to raise further understanding of the charity’s work within the Dorchester community.”

Lin Hudswell, community fundraising manager at Julia’s House, says: “We’re delighted that the ODEON Dorchester has chosen to support our work in 2014.  It’s thanks to the fantastic support of companies like the ODEON Dorchester that we continue to provide practical and emotional support to around 100 children in Dorset a year.  Families visit our hospice to receive the very best care and support and to create special memories that they will treasure forever. ODEON Dorchester’s support this year will allow us to continue to do this for families that need us today, tomorrow and in the future.”
