Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital is offering medical insurance brokers an insight into private healthcare by offering exclusive tours behind the scenes.
The private hospital, based on Lansdowne Road in Bournemouth, was inspired to offer the free tours after a successful trial visit offered to a team of health insurance brokers from Jelf.
The Jelf team was given a thorough overview of the facilities and processes involved in the everyday running of the hospital, from exploring stockrooms and supply levels to an explanation of how surgical tools are prepared for operations. The visitors were also shown the hospital’s x-ray department and new MRI unit, which illustrate the hospital’s commitment to high level development and investment in its facilities.
Following their tour, 100 per cent of Jelf’s attending employees felt they had a far greater understanding of the patient journey at a private hospital, as well as an enhanced appreciation of the differences between private and public healthcare. Jelf plans to use this new knowledge to enhance the advice they give clients.
Beth Alahakoon, business development manager at Jelf, said: “Like Nuffield Health Hospital Bournemouth, Jelf is committed to providing the best in customer service, so it was extremely useful and incredibly interesting for our team of insurance brokers to gain a real understanding of staff and patient experiences in a private hospital. This knowledge will be transferred to our customers and other Jelf employees.”
David McNair, director of Nuffield Health Hospital Bournemouth, commented: “There are considerable differences between public and private healthcare and it’s important for customers of private health insurers to understand fully what kind of care they will receive at a private hospital. We are delighted Jelf took the time to come and see us and would welcome the opportunity to show other businesses what we do here.”
