The head girl and head boy of Heathfield School in Sholing raised £587.81 for Wave 105 Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Toy Appeal.
Following the launch of the appeal on November 4, schools, local businesses and Wave 105 listeners have donated new unwrapped toys to help make a disadvantaged child’s Christmas a special one.
Deputy head at Heathfield School, Miss Anna Baker, said: “The children were really enthusiastic about this enterprise project set for them. They ran an amazing and profitable school fayre with products that they had planned and made to sell. It helped raise awareness for the Wave 105 Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Toy Appeal as children were amazed at the need in their local area. The children were proud to donate the £587.81 for the great cause and our staff were proud of the children’s effort and achievement.”
Generous members of the public have donated nearly 30,000 toys to the 2013 Wave 105 Cash for Kids Mission Christmas toy appeal, successfully doubling last year’s total.
All the thousands of toys were collected by various charitable groups, social services and women’s refuges who wrapped and distributed the gifts to those in need in time for Christmas.
