The new operator of a real-ale bar in Penn Hill is holding a ‘meet the brewer’ event to introduce its British craft beer offering to drinkers.

Originally the old Bankes, the ownership of Jenkins & Sons, a cool coffee shop, bar and restaurant, has been taken over by the man behind the award-winning Urban Beach, Urban Reef and Urban Renaissance, entrepreneur Mark Cribb.

The distinctive 1920’s fishmongers and butchers will now be holding monthly beer tasting events, kicking off its first ‘meet the brewer’ with the Dorset Brewing Company on Thursday October 17.

From 7.00pm, guests will have the chance to meet and chat with Oliver Kitson the head brewer, plus try a range of eight different beers, including:

  • Dorset Knob – 3.9 per cent
  • Tom Browns – 4.0 per cent
  • Jurassic – 4.2 per cent
  • Flashmans Clout – 4.5 per cent
  • Durdle Door – 5.0 per cent

To top it off there will be a selection of food to match the beers and customers can finish off the evening with a pint of their choice.

Mark says: “Britain is in the midst of a craft beer revolution and is falling back in love with this incredible, historical tipple.  We have made it our mission to source the very best British craft beer from real people, who have a passion and love for what they do.”
