Clothing brand Weird Fish is set to host a “Meet the Artist” event at its Portsmouth store based in Gunwharf Quays from Friday 28 to Sunday October 30.

Weird Fish cartoonist and illustrator, Richard Skipworth will be in store during these days from 10am to 4pm to provide airbrush demonstrations on T-shirts and canvases as well as being on-hand to reveal how he brings the brand to life.

There will also be a chance to win the artwork that Richard creates on the day.

Weird Fish’s nominated charity, the Royal Society for Protection of Birds (RSPB) will be present during the event to sign up new members and to highlight their collaboration with Weird Fish. The collaboration which launched in January 2015 has involved the development of a range of RSPB inspired T-Shirts. A percentage of the profits from the sales of these T-Shirts goes directly to the RSPB, with Weird Fish raising over £30,000 for the charity so far.

The RSPB-inspired clothing has included the hugely popular ‘Lord of the Wings’ and ‘Darth Wader’ T-shirts as well as the ‘Harrier Potter and the Deathly Sparrows’ T-shirt. All of these designs were created through competitions run on Weird Fish’s Facebook page, giving fans a chance to get involved by coming up with the ideas. The concepts were then brought to life by the artist Richard Skipworth himself.

Shoppers making donations to the RSPB during the event will be able to have a go on the Weird Fish skittle alley for their chance to win prizes.

John Stockton, managing director at Weird Fish, said: “Our Meet the Artist events are proving hugely popular with families and provide a great opportunity to meet one of our artists behind the designs.”
