We had the opportunity to see the outstanding production of Cinderella, thanks to the lovely Poole Lighthouse.

The Lighthouse and Duncan Reeves production, which has been written and directed by Peter Duncan, is starring a fantastic cast, including the incredible Lucy Kay (Britain’s Got Talent), Ethan Lawrence (Bad Education) and many more talented performers. With a perfect balance of comedy, music and audience participation, Cinderella is most certainly a show for everyone to enjoy this Christmas.

As Cinderella is one of our all-time favourite pantomime, there was a definitely a lot to live up to. So did it manage to? Oh yes it did.

Although such a timeless classic, this rendition of the glass-slipper tale features scenes with a modern twist that’ll make you laugh and later make you cry, cleverly weaved into the traditional story line. Our favourite part of the show was possibly the most magical part of the performance. The Fairy Godmother transforms Cinderella’s rags into a dress fit for a princess. In the blink of an eye, the tatters miraculously become a ball gown and Cinderella, enchantingly played by Lucy-Jane Quinlan, is met by a majestic carriage pulled by two real-life Shetland ponies.

The Ugly Stepsisters didn’t fail to make the whole audience giggle, children and parents alike, with their silly humour and Buttons warmed the hearts of us all with his undying love for Cinderella. Although his first pantomime, Ethan Lawrence effortlessly engages the younger audience with his natural flair for comedy. With a charming Prince and an incredibly agile Baron Hardup, played by 63 year old Herr Flick, who cartwheels effortlessly across the stage, this year’s Lighthouse pantomime is full of surprises.

The talented cast, accompanied by the excellent musicians in the orchestra pit, put on a production that truly captures the spirt of Christmas.

With all this in mind, we strongly recommend you visit Poole Lighthouse to see this masterclass performance. We guarantee you will be feeling very cheerful and festive afterwards. To see availability and ticket prices please visit https://www.lighthousepoole.co.uk/whats-on/2017/cinderella/
