A few clouds didn’t stop us! Armed with mugs of Dorset Tea™, we celebrated the solar eclipse with an informal Breakfast BBQ on Sandbanks beach.
On Friday March 20 we invited the media, clients, family and friends to celebrate the first solar eclipse of the century.
Guests gathered in their coats and scarves at 9am and huddled together to watch the eclipse. We fired up the barbecues to cook a choice of bacon, egg and sausage baps. We tried to keep everyone warm by handing out free cuppas provided courtesy of Dorset Tea™. Guests chose from Golden Blend, Earl of Dorset, Strawberries and Cream, Foraged Fruits and Green Tea with Sunshine Lemon.
Thankfully the rain stayed away and despite the cloud, BBQ guests were able to see the eclipse – although slightly later than expected. We used handmade pin-hole cameras to look safely and easily at the eclipse – who needs fancy glasses!
Liz said: “We successfully turned a non-event into an event and it was great to see everyone… the next eclipse won’t be until 2026.”
Leila Pastecchia, a friend of Liz’s, said: “I arrived armed with colanders, paper, scissors, flasks and blankets. We sat, we didn’t see too much in the way of an eclipse, but we had a lovely chat and a few laughs through some icy cold tears! It was great to be there.”
