Claire Colborne, a legal executive for Humphries Kirk solicitors joined around 36,000 people who attempted to run 26.2 miles and complete the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday April 24.

Claire, 37, from Shipton Gorge, Bridport, based at the Humphries Kirk office in Crewkerne, set herself the challenge to raise funds for Children with Cancer UK in memory of Lexi Hopkin, the daughter of a close friend and former colleague, who passed away in January with an inoperable brain tumour at the age of only eight.

Claire completed the marathon in three hours and 49 minutes and has beaten her fundraising target by raising £3,700 for the national charity which funds research, welfare and campaigning projects to help children with all types of cancer.

She commented: “I set the target of raising £2,620.00 which is £100.00 for every mile I run so I am delighted to have been able to raise more. The marathon was such a fantastic experience and I felt OK until mile 24 when my knee and hip started hurting. But I’m fully recovered now and have even started back at the gym.”
