The Drewitt Group, a Bournemouth-based firm providing services to the construction industry presented a trophy to a Bournemouth and Poole College student at the Construction Prize Awards at AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday June 24.
Richard Drewitt, managing director of The Drewitt Group presented the James Drewitt Memorial Trophy to student David Bennett for excelling during his time at the college. Richard said: “The trophy, which is dedicated to the memory of my great grandfather, James Drewitt, was instigated to encourage young people to choose a career in the construction industry, gain recognised qualifications in and progress within the sector.
“We were delighted to award David for his efforts as he has progressed from a school programme to the college’s full time diploma course.”
The Construction Prize Awards recognises the success of students at Bournemouth and Poole College and those who have excelled in their studies during the current academic year.
Mark Loose, head of construction and electrical at Bournemouth and Poole College, said: “I’d like to say a huge thanks to Drewitts for their continued support, because without it, events such as this would not be able to happen.”
Drewitt’s has supported the college’s annual prize awards for nearly 25 years. Until 2013, Gillian Drewitt, also a director of The Drewitt Group, was a member of the college’s Board of Corporation.
The Drewitt Group, which was founded in 1877, combines Drewlec, Drewsons Décor and Drewsons Plumbing and Heating Services providing building maintenance, plumbing, heating and electrical services.
