The Drewitt Group presented a trophy to a Bournemouth and Poole College student at the Construction Prize Awards at AFC Bournemouth on Thursday June 25.
Richard Drewitt, managing director of the Bournemouth-based firm presented the ‘James Drewitt Memorial Trophy’ to James Moorcroft, who made the most progress on his level 1 full time bricklaying course. He said: “The trophy, which is dedicated to the memory of my great grandfather, James Drewitt, was instigated to encourage young people to choose a career in the construction industry, gain recognised qualifications in and progress within the sector.
“We were delighted to award James for his efforts as he has continued to improve, he has an excellent attitude to learning and has attended extra sessions to help himself improve. James has become a model student who shows a keen interest in his work and always gives 100%.”
The Construction Prize Awards recognises the success of students at Bournemouth and Poole College and those who have excelled in their studies during the current academic year.
Tony Moss of Construction, Plumbing and Electrical Apprenticeships at Bournemouth and Poole College, said: “I’d like to say a huge thanks to Drewitts for their continued support, because without it, events such as this would not be able to happen.”
Drewitt’s has supported the college’s annual prize awards for nearly 25 years. Until 2013, Gillian Drewitt, also a director of The Drewitt Group, was a member of the college’s Board of Corporation.
