A solicitor at Dorset and Somerset law firm Humphries Kirk, has reached the final three in the Dorset Venus Awards’ ‘Professional of the Year’ category.
Michelle Dixon, who specialises in construction and engineering law, has been whittled down from 60 nominations to reach the final three. The ‘Professional of the Year’ award honours highly qualified women who excel in their professional occupation. This award is sponsored by ASH Elite, a Dorset-based specialist legal recruitment consultancy.
Michelle Dixon, associate solicitor at Humphries Kirk, commented: “I’m delighted to have made it to the finals in the ‘Professional of the Year’ category, after much fierce competition. It’s an honour to be part of the Venus Awards, which prides itself on recognising and rewarding business women; something I believe in very strongly.”
Darrell-Stuart Smith, partner and head of the commercial department at Humphries Kirk, said: “We’re all incredibly proud of Michelle. It’s a real achievement to reach the finals and a great accolade for Humphries Kirk. It’s safe to say we’ve all got our fingers crossed for her.”
Joining Humphries Kirk as a trainee in 2007 with a Bachelor of Laws degree and Legal Practice Course from Cardiff University, Michelle qualified in 2009 into the construction law team. Construction law affects multiple parties from contractors, sub-contractors, employers, developers, surveyors, architects to home-owners. At Humphries Kirk, Michelle is responsible for advising and assisting on various highly technical and complex cases, ranging from minor works to large multi-million pound projects covering defective workmanship, professional negligence, project management and debt recovery, to name but a few.
The winner of the ‘Professional of the Year’ in the Dorset Venus Awards will be announced at a Gala Ball on Thursday October 20 at the Bournemouth International Centre.
