To coincide with World Book Day on Thursday March 6, Heather Chamberlain author of children’s book Major Payne in Happy Bottom: Fowl Deeds visited pupils at Buckholme Towers School and Nursery.

Heather hosted storytelling workshops for each year group including reception and nursery as well as giving tips on creative writing.

Iain Robertson, headmaster at Buckholme Towers School, said: “Heather’s books are wonderfully entertaining for children and the pupils gained valuable insight into techniques for creative writing.”

Following a 22 year career as a primary school teacher in Dorset, Heather produced her first series of books using names inspired by Dorset locations. She said: “As a teacher I really enjoyed storytelling and drama more than anything else. Creating the world of Happy Bottom has been a joy and I love working with children on rhyme and illustration.”

Buckholme Towers School and Nursery on Commercial Road in Poole provides education for children from two years and nine months to 11 years old.
