Before I embark on my final year at Bournemouth University to conclude my PR degree, I had the opportunity to undertake a week-long work experience placement at Liz Lean PR. During my placement I gained a huge amount of industry knowledge and it has definitely reiterated that PR is the career for me. I was given the opportunity to engage in daily activities such as writing press releases, pitching to top fashion magazines and preparing social media posts for relevant clients.
As I will be entering the ‘adult’ working life in just over a year’s time I knew it was important for me to experience all the different aspects of PR. The variety of tasks that I was given ensured that I was able to explore all the individual clients and learn how they differ.
The team were extremely welcoming and put me at ease straight away. Every task was briefed to me in detail and even from only being there a week, I feel I contributed to the company. The office had such a friendly, warm atmosphere which meant I was not afraid to ask questions and Shona was always on hand to ensure I was managing the work and had something to do.
I would like to thank the whole team at Liz Lean PR for a warm welcome and for the opportunity to gain some valuable knowledge that I will take with me into my final year and my future career in PR.
