Motor dealership Breeze Volkswagen is pleased to announce that its order book for the most powerful production Golf is now open, with first deliveries to the Tower Park-based showroom on the 14 plate taking place in March.

Breeze Volkswagen is welcoming people to the showroom to find out about the fastest ever Golf from its highly efficient team of customer service driven sales professionals. The new Golf R features an improved version of the four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo engine used in the latest Golf GTI model.

The new engine outputs 300PS and has undergone several modifications including an updated cylinder head, exhaust valves, valve seats and springs, pistons, injection valves and turbocharger. The vehicle is also 45kg lighter than the outgoing model.

The adjusted engine propels the Golf R from zero to 62 mph in as fast as 5.3 seconds, an improvement of 0.4 seconds on the previous Golf R. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.  The engine not only delivers increased performance but is also up to 18 per cent more efficient than the former Golf R due to a combined fuel consumption of 39.8 mpg and CO2 emissions of 165 g/km. The Haldex four-wheel drive system is also incorporated.

Exterior wise the Golf R has a new front bumper design with larger air intakes, daytime running lights, standard 18-inch alloys, ventilated brake discs and an ‘R’ logo on the radiator grill.

John Corderoy, managing director at Breeze Volkswagen, says: “The team at Breeze Volkswagen are excited about the arrival of the new improved and quicker Volkswagen Golf R.  This car is definitely one of the quickest hatches on the market and is superb, offering quality, style, badge appeal and an exhilarating drive.  With extensive product knowledge of the marque, the Breeze Volkswagen team are on-hand to discuss details about the new Golf R and take orders from interested buyers ahead of its spring delivery.”

Prices start at £29,900 for a 3 door with a six speed manual rising to £31,970 for a 5 door with the DSG six speed automatic gearbox.
