Leading Dorset and Hampshire firm GF Electrical, was recently awarded a certificate of recognition to mark 10 years being registered as an approved contractor.

The certificate, NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting) is the UK’s leading regulatory body for the electrical contracting industry and currently includes more than 26,000 registered contractors.

To become an approved contractor, firms undergo a rigorous assessment process of their work, premises, documentation, equipment, and also on the competency of their staff. They are then re-assessed on a regular basis to ensure continued compliance.

Gary Fisher, managing director at GF Electrical, based in Holton Heath, Poole, said: “We’re delighted to have achieved this accreditation, it’s something which is hugely important to us as a business. As an established firm with more than 25 years’ industry knowledge behind us, we are committed to ensuring we provide the safest and highest quality service to our loyal customer base.

“More than 90 per cent of our work comes from recommendations which we are incredibly proud of and continual regulation and improvement is paramount to us.”

GF Electrical has a team of 10 electricians and five office staff. GF Electrical is also a member of the ECA (Electrical Contractors’ Association), BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Equipment), Constructionline and SafeContractor.

In February, the team also undertook Management Software training to enable the firm’s electricians to use a mobile system to reduce administration time and create further efficiencies when reporting on jobs and booking in new work.

Gary added: “Investing in my employees is extremely important and by giving them frequent training on the latest efficiencies in the industry, they can continue to provide a high quality service to our customers across Dorset, Hampshire, the Home Counties and London.”

The family-run firm provides a full range of electrical support for commercial customers including emergency lighting and fire alarms, maintenance, testing and certification, contracting, heating systems, access control and CCTV.
