Tapper Funeral Service’s Outlook Bereavement Support programme has raised more than £200 for Forest Holme Hospice following its first social event of the year.

The generous donations were collected from a buffet lunch for widows and widowers at Parkstone Yacht Club.
More than 60 spouses descended on the yacht club’s lounge for the communal get-together which aims to provide support to those who have lost loved ones.

Steven Tapper, joint managing director at Tapper Funeral Service, said: “Outlook Bereavement Support aims to create new friendships and help foster local community support. Bereavement can be different for everyone so we wanted to create an environment which people can call upon when they wish, to allow them to work through their emotions at their own pace, but not in isolation.”

The programme, which is the first of its kind, holds free monthly events with a voluntary collection for a specific charity of choice.
